Strategy and leadership
for the age of
intelligent machines.
I work with organizations navigating the real challenges of AI adoption — not the brochure version, but the organizational, cultural, and strategic work that actually determines whether transformation succeeds.
Practitioner knowledge, research discipline
Most consulting engagements fail not because the advice is wrong, but because it is not grounded in the specific reality of the organization receiving it. I work differently: I take time to understand the context, the culture, and the genuine constraints before I offer any recommendations.
My work draws on more than fifteen years of leading data and AI initiatives across industries, combined with ongoing academic research into organizational transformation and AI governance. I bring both the practitioner's pragmatism and the researcher's rigour.
I work in German and English. Engagements range from short diagnostic assessments to extended interim mandates. I am selective about the work I take on — when I commit, I commit fully.
What I do
Interim CDAIO Leadership
Stepping in as interim Chief Data, Analytics & AI Officer for organizations in transition — between permanent appointments, during transformations, or when building the function from scratch. I provide experienced executive leadership without the overhead of a permanent hire.
Suitable for: Mittelstand companies, family-owned businesses, organizations building their first data function
AI Strategy & Roadmapping
Developing a realistic, implementable AI strategy — one that is grounded in organizational capability and cultural readiness, not just technical possibility. I help leadership teams move from ambition to a coherent plan with clear priorities, realistic timelines, and honest assessment of what it will take.
Suitable for: Executive teams, boards, CDOs and CTOs beginning a transformation
Organizational Design for Data & AI
Helping organizations design the right structure for their data and AI function — applying the Microteaming framework and other evidence-based approaches to build high-impact teams without the overhead of large departments. Structure, decision rights, reporting lines, and talent profiles, all aligned to real organizational context.
Suitable for: HR and organizational development, strategy teams, operations leaders
Data Culture Assessment & Development
Diagnosing where an organization actually stands on data maturity — not on paper, but in the decisions, habits, and behaviors that determine whether data is really used. Followed by a tailored program for building the cultural conditions that make data-driven decision-making real rather than aspirational.
Suitable for: Organizations beginning or stalling in data transformation programs
AI Ethics & Governance
Building practical AI governance inside organizations — not compliance theater, but the structures, processes, and roles that make accountability and transparency real. I help organizations move from a principles document to a functioning governance framework that holds up under operational pressure.
Suitable for: Legal, compliance, and risk teams; organizations deploying AI in regulated contexts
Typical clients
German Mittelstand
Mid-sized, often family-owned companies with the ambition to become data- and AI-driven, but without the resources or appetite for large-scale department building. My work is designed for exactly this context.
Organizations in Transition
Companies that have started a data or AI transformation and are finding that the organizational and cultural challenges are harder than the technical ones — and need experienced counsel to navigate them.
Leadership Teams Without In-House Expertise
Boards and executive teams that need a credible, independent voice on AI strategy and governance — someone who can translate between the technical and the organizational without an agenda tied to a particular vendor or solution.
Regulated Industries
Financial services, healthcare, and other sectors where AI deployment requires rigorous governance and where the intersection of technical capability and regulatory compliance demands specialized knowledge.
What you can expect
I do not sell retainers I cannot fill meaningfully. I do not recommend solutions I have not carefully evaluated against your specific context. I do not tell clients what they want to hear at the expense of what they need to hear.
Every engagement begins with a genuine effort to understand your organization — its history, its culture, its real constraints. The advice that follows is grounded in that understanding, not in a standard playbook applied regardless of fit.
I measure success by outcomes, not outputs. Whether I have delivered a document, a strategy, or an interim mandate, the question that matters is whether your organization is meaningfully better positioned as a result.
